I'm Intrigued By RockHarbor and their Alpha Classes

One of the things that is disappointing about Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, is it is so big, and unwieldy. I find myself getting swallowed up inside of it, and lost in the corners of the big machine. I'm not in a group, and although I have gone to 2 Thanksgiving dinners, and 8 men's meetings, it just seems like i'm still a passer by.

What i'm looking for is COMMUNITY. I'm looking for a Church that follows Christ, apologetically, and to the letter, and lives vibrant Christian lives, defining Christianity in a very Biblically inspired, and positive way. Maybe if i get more involved in Calvary Chapel, I can find this. I was really inspired to purchase LOGOS 5 from Calvary Chapel, and their school looks like a great place to send kids, if i ever have any . . . but for me, for now, I think I'm going to check out Rock Harbor Costa Mesa and see if they walk the walk they talk.

If memory serves me correctly, the couple that I had a wonderful religious and biblical conversation at Chipotle invited me to come check out Rock Harbor, oh so many months ago.

More Christian Than You Are: Judging Other Christians

More Christian Than You Are 0 October 29, 2012,   0  Comments Romans 2:1 NASB Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. I'm having a hard time right now with my parents, who say they are Christian, and in a very hurtful way, they will tell me that my heart is not right, or that i'm not living my life right, or that my problems are a result of not living a good Christian life. I go to Church regularly, up until recently, I would go to Church with my Mom, while my Dad was out surfing. I've read the Bible 4 times, and I know (or at least I can tell when a verse from the Bible is being cited, and) when someone is making up something that sounds like it should be in the Bible, but it isn't. My Dad doesn't read the Bible. And so, I am basically at odds with people who are stuck in the 80's mentality of how ...

Christian Economics

Christian Economics   by Most Rev. Dr. Robert M. Bowman, Presiding Archbishop, United Catholic Church   It is accepted as a given, at least in these United States, that Christianity and Free-Market Capitalism are inseparable. To those on the right, it is an article of faith. "That government governs best which governs least." "Godless Communism." "In God’s order there are no schemes of wealth distribution which under the government forces productive citizens to give the fruit of their labors to those who are nonproductive." (Pat Robertson in  The New World Order , page 228.) Laissez faire, tax cuts, slash government spending, downsize, balanced budget, welfare reform, tax relief, flat tax, deregulation, capital gains tax cuts, eliminate the income tax, disband the IRS — these make up the economic litany of conservative Christians. Capitalism and family values go hand in hand. Even liberals seldom badmouth capitalism. They just want to make it a li...

The Little Brown Church in the Vale, Chick-fil-A, & Gay Marriage

In an interview with Baptist Press, Cathy said the company was "guilty as charged" in supporting the "biblical definition of the family unit." “We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives,” said Cathy, the son of company founder S. Truett Cathy.    Recently, the issue went even further when Boston's mayor said that he would block Chick-Fil-A from opening in his city.  Boston Mayor Thomas Menino told the Boston Herald he would work to block Chick-fil-A from opening a restaurant in the city. “You can’t have a business in the city of Boston that discriminates against a population,” Menino said. The Little Brown Church in the Vale, Chick-fil-A, & Gay Marriage I went to a wedding in Iowa a couple years ago, and found that the Church was this small chapel with some ZZ Top looking ministers who have been doing weddings since 1864. Over 40,000 visitors come to the Little Brown Church each year,...
