Heart of Worship by Sarah Hernandez (my lil sister)

Heart of Worship week 1  by Sarah Hernandez If you know me, you know that I love the ocean. It is a very special place for me and I feel a certain peace and closeness with God when I am there. I also surf, so I am very familiar with how the waves work, how the tide ebbs and flows, and the rhythms of the water. One day, while sitting on my surfboard, God gave me a vision of what kind of worship He wants from me, and he used the very thing I love, to illustrate it. I saw myself wading into the water, at first only knee deep, still standing on shore. I was completely content standing on the shore and feeling the water rushing back and forth, gently hitting my knees and back again. But there was a longing for more inside of my soul, to go deeper. I heard the Lord quietly beckon me out further, reminding me that He has everything under control, and to surrender the pre-conceived notions I have about Him and what my worship to Him may look like. Suddenly, I saw my...

Advent 2015 Weekly Reflections, Annual Posada, Dec. 18 & more ...

As I'm reflecting during Advent, I am really drawn to this idea of an Annual Posada. I'm thinking of setting something like this up next year. There are a lot of traditions that I want to collect from the past, and also new ones that my friends and family can appreciate moving forward. Check this out How to Celebrate a Mexican Posada: A Packet for Lay Leaders, Musicians, and Clergy by Hugo Olaiz Keeping Advent I am thinking about how we as Christians fail to bring the Love of Jesus, and instead bring about hate and American frustrations out on the people who are struggling through this world beside us. In People magazine I read about two Muslim Mosques that were vandalized with the word “Jesus” written on the walls. This made the news, it made my radio broadcast on KFI that I listen to, and it really got me thinking. I don’t believe this is THE WAY that Jesus set our for us. Jesus would NOT have done this. This goes back to a major point that I am starting to...

Gaystapo, The Queen James Bible, The Androgynous New NIV Bible, and Zondervan (Harper Collins) also Publishing the Satanic Bible

Gaystapo, The Queen James Bible, The Androgynous New NIV Bible, and Zondervan (Harper Collins) also Publishing the Satanic Bible July 24, 2014, Original Post Can Be Found Here I wanted to talk about this article that I recently read by David Badash: http://goo.gl/LrFeoJ. Gaystapo' Editor: 'I Penned A Theologically Based Article Stating My Sincerely Held Religious Beliefs' From what I can tell, the Queen James Bible is an attack on Christianity by the liberal and LGBT friendly community to manipulate the Bible to bend to their sins. We have seen the push for people to be more inclusive, but it should not include being inclusive to actions which are causing the degradation of their culture, society and religion.  I have to tell you right now, I don't count LGBT as a people, nor more than I count a group of racquetball players as a people. They are joined by an activity. This does not make them a race; nor does it make them sacrosanct in ...

I'm Intrigued By RockHarbor and their Alpha Classes

One of the things that is disappointing about Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, is it is so big, and unwieldy. I find myself getting swallowed up inside of it, and lost in the corners of the big machine. I'm not in a group, and although I have gone to 2 Thanksgiving dinners, and 8 men's meetings, it just seems like i'm still a passer by. What i'm looking for is COMMUNITY. I'm looking for a Church that follows Christ, apologetically, and to the letter, and lives vibrant Christian lives, defining Christianity in a very Biblically inspired, and positive way. Maybe if i get more involved in Calvary Chapel, I can find this. I was really inspired to purchase LOGOS 5 from Calvary Chapel, and their school looks like a great place to send kids, if i ever have any . . . but for me, for now, I think I'm going to check out Rock Harbor Costa Mesa and see if they walk the walk they talk. If memory serves me correctly, the couple that I had a wonderful religious and biblical c...

"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist." - Verbal Kint (The Usual Suspects 1995) One of the things I find hard about "debating" with Atheists is that they generally will use anononimity when talking points about the evils of society come up. Any "bad man" or "bad deed" committed by an atheist goes without judgement, while they seemingly stand as judge, jury, & executioner of God, Jesus, and anyone who doesn't bend to their school of thought, which they unceremoniously call "SCIENCE". Honestly, It's like arguing with a two year old. MINE. MINE. You just have to sit em in the corner and let time deal with this one. Interestingly enough, politics of some situations renders this nearly impossible. And they all feel they have THE RIGHT to trump card your belief system because they don't believe in angels, or anything bigger than they are. When you get right to i...

12 Tribes Means Different Inter-connective Ways To Be Christ-like.

i had a kind of realization today that God works through people. And rather than having monocultures, or having people all act the same, all grasping onto the same way of doing things, the Almighty is at work through many different ways in everyone's life. We have to come to terms with His love in our own time, and in our own way, but there were 12 tribes for a reason, and each disciple was very different in his and her personality, persona and each had a different relationship with Jesus. i think today i realized that we aren't going to fully understand the interconnectivity of it all, until ultimately we get it explained to us in heaven. What can i do with this information? And how much of an epiphany is this anyway. Well, it gives me the power to forgive with an incredible amount of energy because i don't need to figure out what the other person is working on or how God is working within their life. I just need to make sure that I am working with God in my life. I n...

REPOST: What resources would you most like to see available in Logos?

Original Post:  http://community.logos.com/forums/p/18568/424892.aspx#424892 I have a question which kinda goes with this topic. I'm trying to rationalize purchasing a LOGOS 5 plan, and i don't want to just purchase a whole bunch of material which will either go unread, or keep me from viewing the resources which I am most interested in. I'm loving the idea of the timeline, so at this point i'm looking at either a Gold plan or a Platinum plan. The thing is, i've been researching Apologetics and Patristics with a friend, and am seriously considering purchasing these three sets from Amazon.com; (or have been for over 2 years) - but am closer to pulling the trigger. In everything else, I have switched from purchasing books in print, and have moved to either Kindle, iBooks, Zinio, Kno, or  iTunes-U. I have a Macbook, & an iPad2 to work with.  I've also downloaded Olive Tree, Bible.com's App, and a number of other "free" App versions of Bible ...
