Heart of Worship by Sarah Hernandez (my lil sister)

Heart of Worship week 1  by Sarah Hernandez If you know me, you know that I love the ocean. It is a very special place for me and I feel a certain peace and closeness with God when I am there. I also surf, so I am very familiar with how the waves work, how the tide ebbs and flows, and the rhythms of the water. One day, while sitting on my surfboard, God gave me a vision of what kind of worship He wants from me, and he used the very thing I love, to illustrate it. I saw myself wading into the water, at first only knee deep, still standing on shore. I was completely content standing on the shore and feeling the water rushing back and forth, gently hitting my knees and back again. But there was a longing for more inside of my soul, to go deeper. I heard the Lord quietly beckon me out further, reminding me that He has everything under control, and to surrender the pre-conceived notions I have about Him and what my worship to Him may look like. Suddenly, I saw my...

RE: San Bernardino Shooters Confirmed As Islamic Terrorists

This is in response to this Funker530.com article, and the statement made by ZH below. At this point, our president and his team want this anti gun agenda to happen so bad that he's gonna brush this under the rug. This was terrorist attack. I had a hard time sleeping last night because I have a heavy heart. This event was too close to home. Yeah we can pray for the victims but faith without works is dead. We need to take action as well as praying. We want peace, we have to be the first ones to take the steps towards it. War has been waged on American soil. Prepare for what may come. Have a plan with your loved ones in case of a emergency. Get a gun, bat, knife, machete, some type of protection for your household and educate yourselves and your loved ones about your protection. One love fam. - ZH What is terror exactly? And by that definition is the US Government a terrorist organization? At any rate, while discouraging you of thinking all Muslims are barbaric warmon...

I feel like Christian dating is like a Rumspringa in a Sense

I feel like Christian dating is like a Rumspringa in a Sense Original Post is located here:  http://scrip.ly/!245 2 Corinthians 6:14-15 ESV 14  Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness? 15  What accord has Christ with Belial? Or what portion does a believer share with an unbeliever? Rebecca from Breaking Amish I wrote this to a woman who was looking for a man who followed Christ online, and never got a response. It was a seriousinquiry, because so often I find that people have basically taken what they like about Christianity, and left the rest. You are beautiful, and super intriguing. That being said, I've said that I think that the only real Christians left seem to be Amish & Mennonite; and although I'm nowhere near living like the Amish, mostly out of fear and a love for tech - I feel like Christian dating is like a Rumspringa ...

I'm Intrigued By RockHarbor and their Alpha Classes

One of the things that is disappointing about Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, is it is so big, and unwieldy. I find myself getting swallowed up inside of it, and lost in the corners of the big machine. I'm not in a group, and although I have gone to 2 Thanksgiving dinners, and 8 men's meetings, it just seems like i'm still a passer by. What i'm looking for is COMMUNITY. I'm looking for a Church that follows Christ, apologetically, and to the letter, and lives vibrant Christian lives, defining Christianity in a very Biblically inspired, and positive way. Maybe if i get more involved in Calvary Chapel, I can find this. I was really inspired to purchase LOGOS 5 from Calvary Chapel, and their school looks like a great place to send kids, if i ever have any . . . but for me, for now, I think I'm going to check out Rock Harbor Costa Mesa and see if they walk the walk they talk. If memory serves me correctly, the couple that I had a wonderful religious and biblical c...

12 Tribes Means Different Inter-connective Ways To Be Christ-like.

i had a kind of realization today that God works through people. And rather than having monocultures, or having people all act the same, all grasping onto the same way of doing things, the Almighty is at work through many different ways in everyone's life. We have to come to terms with His love in our own time, and in our own way, but there were 12 tribes for a reason, and each disciple was very different in his and her personality, persona and each had a different relationship with Jesus. i think today i realized that we aren't going to fully understand the interconnectivity of it all, until ultimately we get it explained to us in heaven. What can i do with this information? And how much of an epiphany is this anyway. Well, it gives me the power to forgive with an incredible amount of energy because i don't need to figure out what the other person is working on or how God is working within their life. I just need to make sure that I am working with God in my life. I n...

SEVEN THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND IN REGARDS TO SEXUAL SIN (by Perry Noble)

We covered Sexual Immorality in my Men's Group this evening. Some pretty heavy stuff. I was introduced to a preacher man named Perry Noble, and what the Apostle Paul states was the Biblical solutions for keeping away from sexual immorality.  Answer: Marriage. THANKS CHET. working on that. There was some good lessons that were drawn out of this subject. Pretty heavy for my first visit to  Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa 's Men's Bible Study. But a rewarding experience, nevertheless. SEVEN THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND IN REGARDS TO SEXUAL SIN (by Perry Noble) For the past two weeks at NewSpring Church we have dove into the subject of sexual sin IN the church (based on the fact that Jesus rebukes two churches in Revelation chapter two for sexual sin IN the church.) Here are several thoughts/reminders in regards to what we covered. (The sermons are available on itunes and on the NewSpring Church website if you want to see/hear them in their entirety.) Who or what you pursue ...

More Christian Than You Are: Judging Other Christians

More Christian Than You Are 0 October 29, 2012,   0  Comments Romans 2:1 NASB Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. I'm having a hard time right now with my parents, who say they are Christian, and in a very hurtful way, they will tell me that my heart is not right, or that i'm not living my life right, or that my problems are a result of not living a good Christian life. I go to Church regularly, up until recently, I would go to Church with my Mom, while my Dad was out surfing. I've read the Bible 4 times, and I know (or at least I can tell when a verse from the Bible is being cited, and) when someone is making up something that sounds like it should be in the Bible, but it isn't. My Dad doesn't read the Bible. And so, I am basically at odds with people who are stuck in the 80's mentality of how ...
